Introducing HawaiiCoin – The First Cryptocurrency of Hawaii

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce the very first cryptocurrency of Hawaii — Hawaiicoin!

Hawaiicoin launched March 28th, 2014 but hasn’t gotten a lot of attention so far.

The mining difficulty is still low (just 4 as I write this) and if you’re interested in altcoins and/or Hawaii, I recommend mining it and getting yourself some before the rush.  I am mining it as I type this, and have been most of the time since the launch date.

I have to admit I had something like this in mind myself, but these guys got here first so I want to help support them and the coin. The developers have big plans for it and say they’re only just getting started.

Here’s what the developers have to say about Hawaiicoin, quoted  from the official announcement thread on BitcoinTalk:

“Whether you’ve been to the “Aloha State” or not, Hawaiicoins are for you!  Why?  Because our team of programmers, marketing professionals, and advertising specialists are hard at work promoting Hawaiicoin for acceptance by companies so you owners of the coin can trade them in for things like free or discounted airfare to Hawaii, online products and services (targeting gifts from Hawaii), and trading opportunities.

From what I’ve read in the main announcement thread so far, it looks like they already have a number of businesses on board with accepting Hawaiicoin and will have more in the near future.
